The Making of Penelope Meadow

Welcome and thank you for paying me a little visit! Please meet Penelope Meadow! She, and this place called "Chapter of Wonder" came to me during the middle of 2015. It was time in my life that I became very overwhelmed and confused about my future and my creativity. I made many, many dolls of all types and sizes, and styles, nothing seem to "fit" me or who I was. I was greatly saddened by this and felt with each doll I was not any closer to finding out where my heart was or who I was supposed to be. Such is the youth! Now I am a bit older and a bit wiser and I found my heart again. I feel alive with magic and happiness and certainly glee when I sit down to make a doll.
Penelope Meadow started out in the same way I  usually make my dolls but I decided to try something a bit different (for me--but certainly not different for most other Waldorf inspired doll makers out there)needle felting. Usually when I add a feature I add it through sewing on features made of cloth over many layers. So with Penelope I decided try try needle felting her features on instead off sewing them on, and it worked so much better for the vision I had for her---in fact, Penelope came to be the way I had hoped all of my previous dolls would be like. So with her and my new vision I set forth to make this little website and brand a new vision for my future.  I hope you will all stick around to see the many pretty dollies and magic here.
The name "Chapter of Wonder" came to me when I quite literally told my husband we are in a "chapter of wonder" stage with our kids. A time in their lives----a chapter in their lives that is so full of wonder and magic it practically bursts at the seams. I like that. My eldest son is nearly ten and he still believes in (and very strongly so) Santa, his elves, gnomes in the forest, the tooth fairy, the easter bunny and of course fairies. It is because he is in this chapter of wonder that I relish in his imagination and the imaginations of all of my children and use it to fuel my inspiration... because the chapter of wonder is short and life gets much more complicated and difficult. I hope to bottle up this time and help people relive the magic of childhood with my dolls.
Thank you for stopping by!
